Local-only data

Home Stuff Inventory stores Inventory data locally on your device. The app does not upload export or backup file contents to the developer or a backend. A destination, provider, app, or recipient you choose in Apple's system file or share UI is controlled by you.

Create a readable export

In Settings, open the Data section and choose Export Inventory. Review the system share options and choose where to save or send the JSON file. A readable export is for inspection and cannot be used as a restore backup.

Create a complete backup

In Settings, choose Back Up Inventory, then select a destination in Apple's file exporter. Keep the resulting JSON file somewhere you control and can access later.

Restore a compatible backup

In Settings, choose Restore from Backup and select a complete backup created by Home Stuff Inventory. Review the backup date, app/schema version, record counts, and any compatibility warning. The app replaces the current Inventory only after you explicitly confirm.

Before replacement, the app creates and verifies a local safety backup. If restore fails or is interrupted, reopen the app and let automatic recovery finish. Do not delete the app or the selected backup while troubleshooting. If the app reports that recovery is required, preserve the available files and include the exact message when opening a support issue.

Data retention

Deleting the app can remove its local Inventory and recovery data unless iOS or device backup behavior preserves it. Export and backup files remain at the destination you selected until you remove them there.
